We could all get lost in the weeds of all the horrible shit this bill that Trump slammed through congress. There's so much there that you could make a joke about ten thousand bloggers and typewriters.
The wealth transfer, the medicaid cuts.
Here's the thing.. Those are spaced out in a way so that most of them hit after the midterms so this knucklefuckers and try to blame democrats. It's a cowardly tactic, but one that's worked.
However, all of that pales in comparison to the important thing in that bill.
Trump has built and will now expand his personal army. Make no mistake, ICE is his "Gestapo."
I fully expect in the near future when it comes election time, Trump will decree that for the sanctity of elections he's deploying ICE troops to make sure things are "above board."
We all know what that'll look like. Voter intimidation, racial profiling, etc. Let's imagine when it comes midterm time and it starts to look like a bloodbath for Republicans; Trump might decide at that moment, it's time that he declare that elections in certain states look fishy and he needs to send in "Trusted people." When it's clear his preferred candidate has lost, he'll declare the election invalid. When people start to push back, ICE will just intimidate, beat the shit out of and then disappear them for "seditious acts" or something. We'll get to watch Alito gag on Trumps dick as he writes a breathless 20 page shadow docket ruling that "sometimes in times of great need you need a decisive leader that's not constrained by existing law" or some shit..
This bill beyond doing all the other stuff might have been the final nail in our democracy's coffin.
A guy with zero morals who has openly talked about wanting violence now has an unaccountable army at his disposal that he'll now swell the ranks with people who likely in many other situations wouldn't even be allowed to be police officers. I can see ICE being filled with proud boys and any number of white christian nationalists who have real ideas about what they want this new america to look like.
Just to be clear, we are currently at the soap box stage, next is the ballot box.
